I collect these by request. They don't preserve terribly well.
Dead specimens shrink to a size shorter than the live specimen was and the body length listed below is a reference to the live animal which is collected as a large immature or adult. Historical methods for preserving these in liquid are rather complicated involving various chemicals and steps. Thanks to modern technology, we keep them frozen because it is simple.
